The Tree House is a new pavilion in Elephant Park, part of Lend Lease's regeneration in Elephant and Castle. It has a café, community space, WCs and roof terrace amongst the tree canopy, with a London Plane growing up through the building.
The visit will be led by Hari Phillips, a Director at Bell Phillips Architects
“It's built from cross laminated timber and if we count the carbon sequestered in the timber during the growth of the tree, it can be classified as our first 'carbon negative' building in terms of embodied energy - something we need to work towards on all our future projects”, says Tim Bell, a Director of Bell Phillips Architects.
Elephant Park is at the heart of a major regeneration led by Lendlease, which will create 3000 new homes and establish one of London’s best new open spaces.
The Tree House the centrepiece of the park: a triangular pavilion is formed by three volumes bound together by an oversailing roof terrace surrounding a mature London Plane.
Tickets £10 available on Eventbrite. https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/414224916877
The closest access point to the Pavilion is via the Sayer Street entrance to the park.
