Join us on a visit to the Grade I listed ISOKON building in Hampstead. The 1934 modernist building was designed by the Canadian architect Wells Coates for Jack & Molly Pritchard. Its famous residents included Bauhaus founder Walter Gropius, author Agatha Christie and no less than five Soviet spies. Philip Harben, Britain's first TV chef, managed the inhouse Isobar restaurant, which was frequented by Henry Moore, Ben Nicholson and Barbara Hepworth.
Our host is Magnus Englund, trustee of the Isokon Gallery Trust, who will first give a talk in the ISOKON Gallery museum to everyone, before we visit the penthouse, courtesy of the current owner. This will take place in two separate groups of ten.
Tickets £15, available through Eventbrite. https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/blackheath-society-architectural-group-visit-isokon-building-hampstead-tickets-323862410187
We suggest a good location for lunch afterwards at the STAG gastro pub which is nearby.
Also, you may like to combine this with a visit to another place of interest nearby: 2 Willow Road, Ernö Goldfinger's house run by the National Trust
