Blackheath and Greenwich in Literature

SADLY THE EVENING IS CANCELLED. The trustees of the Halls have taken the decision to end all public events for the present. It is our  intention that the event will be rescheduled when this proves possible.

Local author, Blake Morrison will be talking on how Blackheath and Greenwich have been portrayed in Literature over the years. Blake has previously given interesting talks on the many literary figures who have lived South of the River, from Chaucer through to Michael Frayn and Lindsay Davis.

On this occasion, Blake will focus on how Greenwich and Blackheath often inspire authors and feature in many novels. THE BLACKHEATH POISONINGS by Julian Symons immediately springs to mind, or the opening scene of TALE OF TWO CITIES by Dickens, Blake will tell us of many more. Greenwich and Blackheath are rich in history and the unusual; it will be a fascinating evening.

Tickets are available from the Halls Box Office, £12. This includes a welcoming glass of wine or soft drink. The evening is 7 for 7.30 pm in the Hearn Recital Rooms of the Blackheath Halls. Tel: 020 8463 0100 boxoffice@blackheathhalls.com.
