We will stop for coffee and plan to have lunch at Middle Temple Hall for which booking is required. The Hall is pretty special too. Numbers are limited. Please book your place through eventbrite.com. .
After the visit…
We all enjoyed an extremely interesting morning. John explained the history of the law courts and showed us around. We need to be grateful to the Victorians for organising the disparate array of courts into a place under one roof. George Street, pupil of Gilbert Scott made a fine job of the building and it is a wonderful example of Victorian Gothic architecture. John told us many stories about the judges whose pictures hang on the wall, the various robes on display and the coat hanger sculpture was admirable. This great morning was rounded off with an excellent lunch at the Cheshire Cheese.
As numbers were limited, John has kindly offered to repeat the walk on Wednesday February 26th. Blackheath Society Members can book a place through Eventbrite.
